After high school, I went to Washington & Lee University in
Lexington, VA., where I received a Bachelor of Art degree in
journalism. Immediately after graduating in 1953, I started
working for The Associated Press in Huntington, WV.
My career with the AP continued in
Charleston, WV, when I became the state broadcast editor in
1960. I transferred to the AP's Broadcast in New York City in
1965 and rose in ranks to Day Supervisor and Deputy Broadcast
Editor.
After one year on the Foreign
Desk in New York, I became editor of the weekly publication AP
Log in 1980 -- a position I held until I retired in 1996.
Since then, I've been enjoying
retirement. My wife, Terry, and I have done some traveling in
this country and abroad. We have three grown sons, Paul, David
and Bryan, and four grandchildren. We always enjoy our Class
of '49 reunions and look forward to hearing from anyone
wishing to contact us.
